Description

Jonathan’s House is a mission comprised of ordinary individuals who believe in giving their time, talents, and treasures for the advancement of the gospel in the Central African Republic (CAR). The mission was first established in 2012 under the leadership of Carter Strand, a man with a passion for rescuing vulnerable children to give them a safe, secure, and educated life. In late 2012, the arrival of our first rescued child occurred. Shortly after, the CAR spiraled into chaos and dismantling from war taking place within the country. It was because of this that many children were displaced, orphaned, and left without anyone to care for them.

Thus began the response to an overwhelming need for children to live safely, securely, and to receive a quality education. Fortunately, the children are finding hope through faith while living in their new home. Jonathan’s House also operates a Christian school, which educates roughly 450 students in grades 1-6. In addition, Jonathan’s House owns and operates a medical clinic in which members of the community are able to receive quality health care. Rescued children are also able to receive immediate medical care for often life-threatening medical conditions. Jonathan’s House has also been able to plant a church in a small community destroyed by rebel violence, offering additional opportunities to share the hope of Jesus.

The needs in this area of the world are nearly overwhelming, but saving lives and seeing hope in the eyes of these children provides inspiration for those who serve and support this mission.
